Butler Snow Announces New Location For Its Primary Jackson, Mississippi Offices

Butler, Snow, O’Mara, Stevens & Cannada, PLLC, announced today that it has entered into an agreement with The H.C Bailey Companies and Barksdale Management Corporation for construction of a new office building to be named after the firm. The building will be completed in 2009, and until that time, the firm will continue to occupy its downtown Jackson offices located in AmSouth Plaza. Butler Snow anticipates occupying approximately 100,000 square feet of the total 250,000 square feet available in its building, located at the new Renaissance at Colony Park development, at Interstate 55 and Old Agency Road in Ridgeland. Butler Snow will be joining Cellular South, Merrill Lynch, Hyatt Hotel and others in the Colony Park development.

Don Clark, Chair of the law firm, says it is an exciting time. “After reviewing all available proposals, Colony Park stood above the rest. This represents a unique opportunity to become the primary named tenant in a first rate office building, located in what will be one of the premier office complexes in the state. This development will enhance the entire metro Jackson area, which Butler Snow has long supported. The firm plans to continue to support and grow alongside the metro area community”.

“This decision was a very difficult one that was not entered into lightly,” Clark continued.  “Two years ago, Butler Snow began to explore options for the firm’s future location. In the end, Jim Barksdale and Buster Bailey really formulated a deal that would not only provide for growth and changes in the firm for the next 15 years, but also provided the most economically beneficial option of all the proposals presented,”  said Clark. Partners of the firm voted, selecting the Ridgeland site on July 29, 2006.

To aid in the search for new office locations, Butler Snow hired Studley Consulting Firm of Atlanta, a national tenant advisory firm, which has represented major law firms in every market in the United States.  “This lease represents a terrific opportunity for Butler Snow to move into a first class development which can support the firm’s needs for many years to come,” said Andrew Lechter, Studley executive vice president, branch manager of their Atlanta office and member of Studley’s National Law Firm Advisory Group. Lechter continues, “The Jackson area is fortunate to have one of the very few office developments in the country that combine the range of amenities of Colony Park. The terms of the lease will be an asset to Butler Snow and, as the leading law firm in Mississippi, this is a positive for the entire community.”

Butler Snow, with more than 140 attorneys, is one of the largest law firms in the Mid-South and has been a leading presence in the Southeastern legal community since 1954. Butler Snow represents clients across the state, region and nation in significant business and litigation matters across a diversified group of industry sectors from its offices in Jackson and Gulfport, Mississippi, and in Memphis, Tennessee.
